UTPA (9-15, 2-4) @ Chicago State (6-20, 4-4) – 2 p.m.
It’s been a roller coaster of a season so far for the women’s team and the loss of LaQuita Garner hasn’t helped. Ever since Garner has been out of the lineup, the Broncs have lost three of their last four games. While they were on pace to compete for the conference, the last five games have really killed any chance they had. The Broncs stand in fifth place and down three games in the loss column to conference leading North Dakota with only four games to play.
The Broncs will complete its road regular season schedule on Saturday against Chicago State at 2 p.m. UTPA narrowly beat the Cougars earlier this year at the Field House 43-39 to open the conference season.
Torre watch
Bianca Torre is now in second place on the all-time scoring list in UTPA women’s basketball history at 1,188. Torre needs 39 points to pass Alex Gravel as number 1 on the all-time list.
Chicago State (3-22, 2-6) @ UTPA (10-17, 4-2) – 7 p.m.
There was a point in the season when it seemed that the Broncs were going to go away easy. But the past seven games have been a whole new season, in a sense, for coach Ryan Marks and his squad.
Coming off a 75-67 win against NJIT on Thursday night the Broncs have put together its longest winning-streak under Marks’ three years with the club. They are also 5-2 in their last seven games and alone in second place in the Great West Conference. The Broncs will now close their regular season home schedule on Saturday against Houston Baptist, who they beat 72-65 earlier this year in Chicago.
It will also be a special night for seniors Jared Maree, Kieondre Arkwright and Nick Weiermiller who will play their last home game in green an white on Saturday.
