April 16, 2009 – Gun on campus proposal by Alejandra Martinez

After the grim memories of campus shootings like the ones in Virginia and Illinois, lawmakers in Texas are seeking to tighten security around colleges and universities by passing a law that will allow licensed gun owners to bring concealed weapons onto school grounds.

June 2, 2011 – Gun bill shot down by Kristen Cabrera

The Controversial HB 750 known as the “Guns on Campus” bill, which passed in the Texas Senate in May, halted on the House floor Tuesday. It had been piggy-backing on another bill that was of fiscal interest but the Texas Constitution bars any bill from taking up two different subjects, so it was sent back to the Senate to have the section on the licensed firearms removed.
