The Lady Broncs had a rough finish in 2009, and it continued in 2010 against high-caliber competition. But they broke free for a win at home to break the streak.
The women had lost their last two games against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Baylor and then dropped a decision to Oklahoma State in their first game of the year. But then they rose to 3-12 for the season with a victory.
It was a great turnaround for the Lady Broncs Jan. 4 at the UTPA Field House as they blasted LeTourneau 75-37, for their first win since Dec. 2 against St. Edward’s. The leading contender of the night was Rose Ester Jean, who scored 16 points with five rebounds and six steals. Coming in close to Jean was teammate Rachel Hester, who scored 14 points with a pair of three-pointers against the Yellowjackets.
UTPA led 40-20 at the half and will next be in action Jan. 14 against NJIT at the UTPA Field House. The next home game will take place Jan. 16 against Chicago State.
