Men’s basketball over .500

The UTPA men’s basketball team beat Chicago State University 68-65 Saturday, getting over a .500 record for the first time since the 2008-09 season.

The Broncs (12-11, 3-1 Great West Conference) have now tied for first place with New Jersey Institute of Technology (3-1 GWC) with only four conference games remaining.

The Broncs’ last winning season was in 2007-08 when they finished 18-13 and was the last time they had so many wins in a season.

Led by Brandon Provost with 16 points, four Broncs reached double-figures in scoring. Jesus Delgado followed with 15 points, while Justin Leathers and Ruben Cabrera each scored 12 points.

The men jump back into action Wednesday at The University of New Orleans.
