James Loya, assistant chief of UTPA Police, and Sandra Quintanilla of University Relations held a press conference Monday morning to address an investigation
into a suspicious death at the Science Building.

Construction workers found a deceased female on the south side of the building at 7:48 a.m. The building was evacuated, and there is no threat to students right now. It is not yet clear whether the person is a student or faculty member.

Investigators could be seen on the third floor of the Science Building dusting the balcony handrail for fingerprints.

On the scene were President Robert Nelsen, Vice President for Business Affairs Martin Baylor, Vice President for Student Affairs Martha Cantu, and Associate Vice President for University Marketing and Communications Kimberly Selber.
