Women’s basketball stampede over HBU Huskies

The women’s basketball team beat the Houston Baptist University Huskies 71-45 Saturday after managing a 30-9 run in the middle of the game.

Head Coach Denny Downing changed up the starting lineup, starting freshman KaeLynn Boyd as point guard and moving Bianca Torre over to shooting guard. The change paid off immediately as four-straight shots from Boyd and a Torre three-pointer gave the Broncs an 11-4 lead three and half minutes into the game.

Boyd finished with eight points, six rebounds and a career-high 10 assists. Torre followed with nine points, made from three three-pointers, six assists and three steals. In scoring, three Broncs reached double-figures; Jasmine Thompson and Joyea Marshall both scored 11 points with six rebounds and Johnondra Patterson scored 10 points with six rebounds.

The Broncs (7-12, 1-2 GWC) will next face off The University of New Orleans Saturday.
